Why do we need a training program in spoken english?

DO you speak English confidently? Do you speak in English every time you have an opportunity to do so, or do you shy away? Do you start conversations in English and then switch to a language you are more comfortable with? How often have you been in a situation where you knew what you wanted to say but couldn't find the right words? A close look at these problems will reveal that the root of it lies in our inability to communicate our thoughts clearly and effectively in English.

Effective communication is important to all of us in every sphere of our lives - be it our education, our career or our relationships.

So if you have answered yes to the above questions how does one solve the problem? The answer is to know the language better because:

Better language = Better communication = Confidence

Needless to say, Communicating confidently is the secret of living a happy and successful life.

Why is english so important?

Because whether we like it or not it's the language of higher education and business in India. In a multicultural and diverse country like India with many different language and dialects it seems to be emerging as a second language which is making it easy for people to communicate.

According to the British council, English has official or special status in 75 countries and is the main language for international business and academics. It is thus the lingua franca of the world.

Why is the program at focus so important?

The best way to learn a language is to first listen to it and then start speaking, reading and writing it. A child picks up his mother tongue quickly because he listens to everyone around him speaking it. When he grows older he starts speaking, reading and writing it.

In India, a lot of people can read and write in English but completely lack the ability to fluently speak the language. The reason is simple. In the environment they are in the exposure to English is low.

The common weak link in our language skills is our skill to listen and speak ... and not read and write. There are many of us who know how to read and write English but it simply doesn't help us when we are speaking. That's because to speak a language one needs to LISTEN to it. Take a look at the table below to understand how the program at FOCUS solves this problem:

The program is designed to create the opportunity for students to become attentive listeners and gradually articulate speakers. This course will strengthen your weak links and make you confident.

FOCUS helps reverse the skill percentages. The stress is on listening and speaking rather than reading and writing.

FOCUS makes sure the root of the problem is solved: lack of confidence to speak a new language. The basic mantra at FOCUS is:
